Engineering Ministries International has their annual dessert evening coming up . . . and this year, for the first time, we’re also trying out a silent auction!
We “evolved” from an Open House to a Dessert Evening last year, when our office was in the midst of renovations at this time, in no condition to host our Calgary area friends. We invited some of our “ministry clients” (people and ministries that eMi has done designs for) to share, and all in all it was a great evening of showcasing how eMi is involved in what God is doing around the world.
This year, we’ve decided to go with a similar format. We’ll again have some ministry clients sharing, including Leslee Greenaway from Kevin’s Kenya trip (please pray for the road conditions, as Leslee is travelling down from Edmonton). Kevin and the interns will also be sharing about Kevin’s recent Burundi trip . . . so lots of chances to hear about what Kevin has been up to this past year.
For the first time, we’re also including a silent auction in the proceedings. The idea was initially just to have a few things that were brought back from our project trips . . . and we have a beautiful soapstone vase from Rwanda, several gorgeous African shawls, some international coffee and tea, and many other international items. But we’ve also received donations from all sorts of people – everything from a wide variety of gift baskets (one even includes a gift certificate for a massage) to a handmade lap quilt to architectural design services . . .
So . . . if you’re in the Calgary area . . . we invite you to come out on Friday night. It’ll be lots of fellowship, great stories, great items to bid on . . . and of course, great desserts! (Click on the picture below for more details)
