Kevin did amazing at the Vancouver Marathon, with an official chip time of 3:23:28. That was a personal best for him! (and he still managed to be coherent at his eMi presentation in PoCo that evening 🙂 )
All the races that Kevin and the girls have planned for this summer got us to thinking . . . other people raise money for all sorts of good causes when they run – why not see if we can raise some money for Engineering Ministries International . . . so . . .
TEAM WIENS was born:
We’ve set up a giving page with CanadaHelps, where people can donate online towards our ministry at eMi (or you can send pledges or donations to eMi Canada 4626 Bowness Road NW Calgary AB T3B 0B3 with a note that it’s for “Team Wiens”). We’ve taken eMi’s motto “Designing a World of Hope” and turned that into “Running for a World of Hope”
Here’s a list of races we’ve got scheduled so far. We’ll likely add a few more as the summer goes along (especially as Talia would like to run her first 10k this season):
Calgary 70.3 Ironman – Kevin
And me? Well, since I can’t keep up with Kaisa on the 5K anymore, I think I’ll officially retire to the role of Team Manager and Cheering Section 🙂 THAT, I can handle . . .
